The miracle of forgiveness

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is beautiful and more beautiful is when you can practice it every day of your life. Today we went to Church and we were surprise to know that the Bishopric has a hard time when we come to Church. When we heard that we were very surprised, but we told our High Counsel representative that we were not happy at all by the way that our children are treated in Primary since the new Primary Presidency was set appart. Our children and other children as well don’t want to go to Church anymore because Primary is not pleasent anymore. We opened our heart to this brother and were surprised to hear from him that Flemish members of the Church and the Church Manuals don’t combine together, that Flemish leaders have a hard time with following the Church rules. Tell me about it! I already knew that since 1994, but to openly hear it from a High Counsel member was quite surprising but sad at the same time.

The whole conversation was ok, I already forgave my leaders a long time ago, but it’s sad to see that they continue to find fault in others and do not look at themselves. Where were they when I needed a blessing when I was home sick for 6 months? I did not receive a single phone call, a e-mail, nothing. But they were quite quickly going to the Stake complaining that we defend our children. Today two young men were accused of doing things they did not do. They were baptized 2 months ago and were crying saying that they do not want to go to Church anymore. My wife and I held them in our arms to comfort them. We hope that Sunday they come to Church again. They told me “in Portugal Church is so uplifting, here we are only accused of things we do not do, people are always blaming each other of things that do not happen". How true! These are children that in Portugal had to travel 2 hours each way to go to Church on Sunday! Two months ago they were baptized and since then experience disapointment after disapointment. They told me that they miss the Church in Portugal. My whole family too…

Church leaders here still have so much to learn, but they do not realize it, that is the saddest part of the story.
